Cascara Syrup

If you love refreshing or cold drinks, cascara syrup is just for you. We added lemon juice to the cascara extract to give it a fresh touch, resulting in a drink similar to iced tea. To keep the recipe as natural as possible, sugar is the only preservative used and the syrup is pasteurised. Our cascara syrup is 100% free from artificial flavours and chemical preservatives.

Recommended ratio: 1:9
To soften the flavour, simply add more water and enjoy a smooth iced tea with caffeine.

What is cascara?

Coffee cherries are the fruits of the coffee plant, made up of several layers. Inside every cherry lie the coffee beans we all know so well. For a long time, these beans were considered the only valuable part of the coffee fruit, while the rest was largely overlooked in our region. As it turns out, we were wrong. In fact, coffee cherries are much more than just the beans! The pulp inside and the skin covering the cherry offer a rich flavour, completely different from the taste of coffee. Once these are dried, this process results in cascara.

What can it be compared to? Closest to a fruit tea with honey tones and a hint of acidity. However – unlike tea – it also contains caffeine thanks to its origin from the coffee plant. Cascara or a coffee cherry tea will therefore charge you with energy for the rest of the day.

• Cascara Iced Tea: Mix the syrup with water in a 1:9 ratio (e.g. 20 ml syrup + 180 ml water), add ice and enjoy a refreshing ice tea.
  
  
• Cascara Soda: Prefer a fizzy drink? Use soda instead of water and give your cascara iced tea a refreshing new twist.
  
  
• Coffee: If you are a coffee lover who likes to experiment, try adding 1 teaspoon of cascara syrup into your coffee. Get ready for a total blast – both in caffeine and flavour :)
  
  
• Cascara Matcha: Matcha lovers will enjoy adding the syrup to an iced matcha latte or matcha orange.
  
  
• Alcoholic & Non-Alcoholic drinks: Make your evenings with friends and family extra special – try our syrup in rum or gin cocktails, or with tonic for a non-alcoholic version. 

Instructions: Mix the syrup with water or soda in a 1:9 ratio (e.g. 40 ml syrup + 360 ml water for a 400 ml glass).
